Obverse: Crying German infant lying on grape branch, head left.  A Giant blood-sucking leech feeding ravenously from the infant's abdomen.  Above leech the insignia of the French Republic.  Text: BLUTSAUGER AM RHEIN

Reverse: The last penny is squeezed out of the German Michel lying under the huge screw press. Text: BOCHES' FEST AUSGEPRESST

Karl couldn't have found a more effective iconography to display the German's view of reparations and the effect they would have on them and on their childrens, children.
