AT THE NEGOTIATION TABLE IN SPA
(Am Verhandlungstisch in Spa)
1920, Cast bronze, Satirical medal, 60.5mm, 68.80g.
Obverse: German Chancellor Fehrenbach stands at the negotiation table and reluctantly signs the Disarmament and Coal Reparation Document. Minister-president Millarand, on his knee, guides Fehrenbach's pen hand; Lloyd George grabs Fehrenbach by the throat and holds a knife to him.
Reverse: An ax labeled "Entente" cuts into the stump of a German oak tree which is beginning to grow new sprouts. Overhead an approaching thunder cloud with lightening bolts and inscribed "Bolschewismus" (Bolshevism) Dated, July 5-16, 1920. K•G to right of ax handle.
A wonderful oversized example of this difficult to obtain piece. The medal exhibits Goetz' excellent ability to create great depth of the devices on both sides.
Grade: VZ/Gussfrisch
