Cast bronze, satirical medal, 58.6mm, 67.80g, Edge-Punched, “KGoeTz”, Frankenhuis 1442.
Obverse: Bust of the King of Montenegro, Nikita ; below, dove as harbinger of peace carrying a note marked “an sm Franz Jos.1.”. In border, “Die Friedestaube erst abgesandt” (Dove of peace has just been sent). KG under dove’s left wing.
Reverse: In border,“Verliess der Rabe drauf sein Land 13. Januar 1916” “The raven then left his land.” Two fists thrust a sword into its scabbard, above a raven, which flies away with the royal crown.
Oxidation schmutz under eye of this extremely difficult issue to obtain. Housed in the karlgoetz.com collection for the past 17 years.
