Obverse: MAXIMILIAN • GRAF • VON • SPEE • VIZEADMIRAL, 3/4 right bust.
Reverse: SEESCHLACHT • BEI • SANTA • MARIA • 1 • NOV. (Naval battle off Santa-Maria, November 1). Eagle with folded wings stands upon the back of a dolphin. The year 1914 is bisected by the eagle. KG in the small exergue.
This is a beautiful example of a bifacially hand-filed edge thus, an ‘early state’ produced piece. Wonderful patina.
